Later Life Planning covers many areas and requires an advisor who has the expertise and experience to work with clients to ensure that their hopes, wishes, concerns and goals are addressed. As every case is unique the first step is to meet for an introductory meeting. This is usually held with the clients, at their home and their immediate family. In an informal setting we will discuss the current situation and I can then have a clear focus on the actions required. This first complementary meeting has no obligations from either party to take the relationship further.
Depending on the current time demands on Gordon, a recommendation report would be produced and the clients and their family will discuss the options. If all parties wish to proceed than a second meeting would be arranged.
Generally the main 4 areas that I help clients and their family are in:
Intergenerational Financial Planning - Generally clients helping their family and as one client said, 'putting my house in order'.
Long Term Care Funding - Either a parent or a partner is about to or is already in a care situation, we discuss the financial and the effect on the partner or children.
Inheritance Tax Planning - What can be done and what are the timescales.
Income in Retirement - What options do I have with my current savings and investments.
